Pylon Features und Produkt Historie

Pylon 5.4.1 |
published 21.03.2006
Windows Mobile 5 support
Pylon now supports Windows Mobile 5 devices, including “smartphones” that use Windows Mobile 5 .0 Phone Edition. Smartphones that use Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition are not supported.
New way of synchronizing on Windows Mobile 5
In order to allow users to choose when to synchronize their Windows Mobile 5 devices, Pylon 5.4.1 disables the Sync button in the ActiveSync window on that platform only. Windows Mobile5 users must now synchronize using the Pylon icon in the system tray. By right-clicking the Pylon icon, then choosing Synchronize from the shortcut menu, users initiate a synchronization manually. The shortcut menu also provides an option to Enable Continuous Sync, for users who want to automatically synchronize their devices every five minutes. Naturally, there is also an option to Disable Contin uous Sync. This is the default setting after installation.
VGA support
The Pylon Pro application on the device now supports VGA screen resolution in Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5 devices. ´
Lotus Notes/Domino Server 7.0 supported
In addition to Lotus Notes versions 6.5.3 and 6.5.4 , newly supported in the Pylon 5.4 release, Pylon now supports Lotus Notes/Domino Server version 7.0. |

Enhanced support of repeating Calendar and Task events
Applications in Lotus Notes and on Pocket PC and Palm devices have some intrinsic incompatibilities in the way that they handle repeating events, esp ecially when changes are made in individual instances in a series. Pylon Conduit and Pylon Pro now bridge those difference to a much greater degree. Virtually all of the different types of meetings, all-day events, appointments, anniversaries, reminders, and to-do’s supported in Lotus Notes now sync reliably to your mobile device and back to Notes.
Lotus Notes groups nested to any level supported
Pylon now connects users, through their membership in groups, to all features to which Lotus Notes connects them. This includ es cases in which a user is a member of one group, and that group is then included in another group, to as many levels as N otes supports.
Configurable Conflict Resolution for Calendar and To Do
Calendar and To Do users who make changes both in Lotus Notes and on the device may now specify how conflicts should be resolved when different changes are m ade to the same record on both ends. Users may choose to keep both versions, keep only the handheld v ersion, or keep only the Lotus Notes desktop version.
Option to sync To Do items to device Calendar
The Calendar Configuration section of a sync filter now has a checkbox labeled “Display To Do List items in Calendar.” When this box is selected, the user’s To Do items are copied into the device Calendar.
Canceled meeting support
Meetings canceled in Lotus Notes are now deleted from the device.
Enhanced Private Record support for Calendar and To Do
Calendar and To Do users may now choose from the following options for syncing records marked as private, either in Lotus Notes or on the device: sync private records normally; sync private records after encrypting them; or do not sync private records at all.
Support for Lotus Notes formulas and views in sync filters
Lotus Notes formulas and views may now be used in Pylon configuration filters to specify which documents will syn c from Notes to the device. Formulas are not applied to content syncing from the device back to Lo tus Notes.
Existing pylonconfig.nsf file preserved by installer
When Pylon is removed by the installer, the pyloncfg.nsf file is left intact in the Lotus Notes data directory. When the installer subsequently reinstalls Pylon, any existing pyloncfg.nsf file is renamed, and then a new pyloncfg.nsf file is created. Thus users may copy any important configuration settings from the previous installation into the current installagion.
Multi-user Notes installs supported
Pylon now supports multi-user Lotus Notes installs via the Custom Notes Install option in th e installer.
Log level may now be configured in the Pylon Configuration Database
Log levels of 3 or 4 now include more complete record detail for Calendar and Tasks.
Newer Palm OS application features supported
Features available in the applications included in Palm OS 5.2 and later are now supported. These include the Location field, the Alarm field, and repeating Tasks.
On Palm OS, Lotus Notes meeting information not supported by Palm Calendar is stored in Note field on device
With the Palm Calendar application, which does not provide specific fields to store all the information associated with a meeting — such as Invitees, Chair, Location, Room, and Resources — is stored in the Note field on the device. On Palm OS 5.2 and later devices, the Lotus Notes Location, Room, and Resources fields are stored in the Location field on device.
Pylon Pro automatically updates Notes form design information on device
Any time a change is made on a server-based form, Pylon Pro automatically updates the copy of the form stored on the mobile device.

Automatic detection of Lotus Notes installations
The Pylon installer now detects all standard Lotus Notes installations that are available to the machine where Pylon is being installed. You simply select the Notes installation that you want Pylon to use.
Custom Lotus Notes installations supported
If you are using a custom Lotus Notes installation -- one in which the locations of Notes files have been manually changed in the Notes configuration file -- you may now configure Pylon to work with that non-standard Notes installation. Select the "Custom Notes Installation" option when prompted by the installer to "Select Lotus Notes Installation."
Enhanced maintenance of your Pylon installation
The Pylon installer has been rewritten to support a maintenance mode. When you run the installer with Pylon Conduit or Pylon Pro, Version 5.3, already installed, it gives you three options:
- Modify -- allows you to selectively add and remove installed components. The installer presents the same panels in the same sequence as in a new install, but the default settings are what you supplied in the previous install. This allows you to change your license key, from eval to permanent for example, change your Lotus Notes information, and enable or disable individual conduits, all without actually re-installing Pylon.
- Repair -- automatically repairs any damaged files in the current installation, without changing any of your installed settings.
- Delete -- cleanly removes all Pylon installation files and registry entries.

Bug fixes
Installation
Conduits deselected during a custom install are permanently disabled. Previously, in some situations the disabled conduits would function and sync unwanted data to the device. (Palm and Pocket PC)
Pylon Configuration database
The Palm device name, Pylon Configuration database username, and the Lotus Notes user name no longer have to match. The device name now can be anything. (Palm only)
Pylon Pro
The extra note button in the Pylon Pro Details dialog box on the device has been removed. This button was unnecessary and tapping it would sometimes cause a fatal error. (Palm only)
Computed field now is grayed out on the device. Previously, this field was non-functioning, but editable. (Pocket PC only)
Mail filters
The Unread Mail filter now syncs only unread mail to the device. Previously, using the Unread Mail filter would sometimes result in both read and unread mail syncing to the device. (Palm & Pocket PC)
Calendar filters
Filter option 'My Calendar - last 2 Months now works as expected. Previously, in some instances this filter would sync unwanted data. (Palm and Pocket PC)
- Repeating appointments
Delete several instances of a repeating appointment on the device and those instances are deleted in Lotus Notes after a sync. Previously, only one instance would be deleted. (Palm and Pocket PC)
- Simultaneously delete one instance of a multiple-date repeating appointment on the device and another instance of the appointment in Lotus Notes and the record is duplicated on both the device and in Lotus Notes. Previously, in some instances the record would duplicate only on the device or in Lotus Notes. (Palm & Pocket PC)
- Date or time changes made to a repeating entry on the device now result in the changes correctly reflected after a sync operation on both the device and in Lotus Notes. Previously, the records would not update. (Palm and Pocket PC)
- Appointments set up to repeat monthly by either date or by day sync as expected. Previously, only the first instance of the appointment would sync. (Pocket PC only)
- Multiple-day calendar events sync as expected in Lotus Notes 4.5 and 4.6. Previously, additional days may have been added to the event. (Pocket PC only)
All instances of daily repeating calendar events now sync to the device. Previously, only the first instance would sync. (Pocket PC only)
- All instances of a repeating meeting sync to the device. Previously, only the first instance would sync.(Pocket PC only)
- Duplicate calendar entries are no longer created on the device. Previously, modifying a device-created repeating meeting in Lotus Notes would result in duplication. (Palm & Pocket PC)
Deleting one instance of a repeating meeting now removes the meeting from both the device and from Lotus Notes. Previously, the instance would not be removed. (Palm & Pocket PC)
Changing one instance of a repeating meeting results in change syncing as expected. Previously, a duplicate entry would be created. (Palm & Pocket PC)
